A valid thorough examination is mandatory by law, so if you own, lease or hire a forklift truck without one, it could lead to prosecution, invalid insurance or a serious accident due to faulty equipment.

The CFTS (Consolidated Fork Truck Services) set up a national accreditation back in 2004 to create a unified national standard of safe practices for all lift trucks and material moving machinery. At Carrylift we are proud holders of the accreditation for all of our fork trucks.

We assure you that we do everything in our power to provide the best service for you at every turn and actively support accreditations like this as a great step forward for safety in the workplace.

We feel it is our obligation and duty to put you and your employee’s safety first. Our accreditations, certificates and safety protocols are in place to safe guard against all of these facts below.

Facts About Forklift Safety

Around eight UK workers are killed by forklift trucks each year. Annually, more than 400 employees suffer amputations, fractures or dislocations, or need resuscitation or an overnight hospital stay, following fork lift accidents. More than one UK worker per day is seriously injured in a fork lift truck accident – more than cars and HGVs put together (defined by RIDDOR).

In 2016, Tomasz Wiszniewski was trapped for eight hours when racking at a food distribution warehouse collapsed on him. The rescue operation involved 13 fire crews. See the full story here: Forklift driver survives eight-hour ordeal by cheese.

More people are killed by forklifts in September than any other month of the year. About two thirds of people killed by fork lift trucks are pedestrians.

There are an estimated 350,000 forklift trucks currently working in Britain – many in public places like garden centres and DIY shops.

We really feel it is vitally important to ensure all of your safety procedures are in place, if you have any questions about any forklift truck health & safety enquiries, our highly trained team are always just a phone call away.
